Spring Break

This spring break I went to the Dominican Republic with my family. Sadly, I did not see any celebrities (there are lots of good baseball players from this country). Here's what I did:
-Ate a lot because the resort was all-inclusive and we mostly ate a buffet and the food was really good. They had mangos, passion fruit, pancakes, and omlettes.
-Put on sunscreen hastily such that I got a blotchy sunburn on the first day.
-Played beach volleyball. Played against old people, little kids, Canadians, Germans, Uraguayians, Slovenians, people from Pennsylvania..........
-Watched the Badger Men's Basketball team because they get American channels down there.
-Tried windsurfing but it was too hard.
-Went into the towns and met a farming family that produced coffee and cocoa beans.
-Unfortunately it was windy and Holy Week so we couldn't go out on boats and it was hard to swim in the ocean. We also couldn't go scuba diving.
-Studied:(
Highlights:
-Watching my mother make bad attempts at speaking Spanish with the locals.
-Watching the staff at the hotel teaching water arobics to drunk people in the pool.
-Hitting a little kid in the gronads with one of my spikes playing volleyball.
Impressions:
-Dominicans are really nice and funny.
-The beaches were disappointing.
-The Dominican Republic is very differnt from Haiti even though they are on the same island.

Where did you go in Domincan Republic? I went to, wow I can't even remember it now. But we stayed at the Royal Princess on the south-west part of the island. How did you like it? I was definitely surprised to see how different the culture was. However we did stay at an all-inclusive and I typically don't like those types of resorts. The best part of my trip was when we left our hotel and walked down the street to this small open air bar. It was just a bar, kind of cool. This bar was the only place that we could find miller light and bud light bottles, and they put them in a tiki holder for us. Oh and you definitely can't be upset about the beautiful beaches and tourquois colored water.

I stayed in Punta Cana which on the eastern tip of the island. The beaches were too windy, wavy, and the water level dropped off pretty quickly. My family is not really the resort type either, but we enjoyed ourselves more than we expected. I'm not really a big drinker so I made good use more out of the buffets than the drinks. Why would you drink miller light and bud light when your down in the Dominican Republic? When did you go?
